ASTD ICE 2010 Volunteer Program — Welcome!

We’re glad you’re here! This year’s ASTD International Conference and Exposition (ASTD ICE) in Chicago promises to be a powerhouse event.

The Chicagoland Chapter of ASTD (CCASTD) is proud to be the host chapter and we look forward to welcoming learning and performance professionals from all over the world to our wonderful city.

After all, it’s been 30+ years since ASTD ICE was hosted here in Chicago and we are eager to show 8,000+ attendees from around the globe what the city has to offer. From the lakefront, to the Loop, the museum campus, to Millennium Park, exploring Chicago is a special treat in addition to the 300+ educational sessions and world-class EXPO hall offered at the conference.

How can you get involved? Volunteer!

Volunteering at ASTD ICE is an exciting and rewarding experience, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to work with you.

Volunteering at the conference offers you:

  • a cost effective way to participate in the conference at a steeply discounted rate - even attendance on some days for free
  • networking opportunities where you will meet other volunteers from the Chicagoland Chapter and from all over the world
  • a chance to be of service – to make an investment in your own professional development – and a contribution to your peers, your community, and your profession

Best-Selling author Dan Pink kicks off the conference with an opening keynote on the science behind high performance and what really motivates us.

As learning & performance professionals, we dedicate our professional lives to others; when was the last time you “sharpened your saw”?

Excited? We are too!

We encourage you to visit the very important links listed below before registering to volunteer:

Please be aware that we anticipate having more people interested in volunteering than positions available.

How to Register as a Volunteer

Click the button on the left to begin the volunteer registration process.

Note: The Volunteer Registration system will launch in a separate window.

The registration system is populated with information pertaining to the number of volunteers that are needed in each position – Session Monitors, Ask Me Volunteers, ASTD Book Store Monitors, International Lounge Assistants, etc -- each conference day.

Therefore, if you try and register and receive a message that the position is not available, it means that all the slots are filled.

In this case, you either can volunteer for a different position, select a different day to volunteer or just keep checking back periodically to see if any slots open up.

Occasionally people register, but their circumstances change, and they find they cannot volunteer. Once their name is removed, the system automatically places the position back on the available list. This is why it’s a good idea to check back periodically because you might find a particular position unavailable one day and available the next day.

If you have questions about volunteering, please contact me either by phone at 847-231-6068 or email at ken@phillipsassociates.com.

Let me know how we – CCASTD and ASTD - can help you find your VALUE.

I look forward to meeting and working with you.

Best regards,

Ken Phillips, CPLP
