According to an article on the ASTD web page, the term “blended learning” is used to describe a solution that combines several different delivery methods, such as collaboration software, Web-based courses, EPSS, and knowledge management practices. Blended learning also is used to describe learning that mixes various event-based activities, including face-to-face classrooms, live e-learning, and self-paced learning.

The sales training community seems torn when it comes to blended learning…especially the components that have to do with electronic delivery. Much of what sales people do is considered “soft skills” which are challenging to teach electronically…or are they? The question that always arises with blended learning is “which content best fits the delivery option?”

In this seminar, we will look at what several organizations have done to deliver blended learning to their sales teams. Training professionals from RR Donnelley, Harris Bank and Zebra Technology will provide examples of what is working in their organizations and how they created it, including:

• A workshop that is 50% classroom and 50% self study;
• A New Hire program that is a combination of e-learning, hands on practice, and simulation; and
• Product Training delivered via webcast.

Participants will also be encouraged to discuss what your organization has – or hasn’t – done in the blended learning arena.
