The CCASTD Mentoring Program

The CCASTD Mentoring Program is brought to you via Open Mentoring® from Triple Creek Associates.

Open Mentoring® is a social learning management system that supports the three main elements of social learning.

  1. Learning Structure
Every e-mentoring interaction has a learning focus and competency basis.
  2. Knowledge Management
A facilitated knowledge exchange process occurs through one-to-one, group, and situational mentoring.
  3. Social Networking
An integrated database creates access to a broad range of people and networks.

Open Mentoring® helps members form intentional learning relationships.

Whether through one-to-one, group, or situational mentoring interactions, mentees and mentors can create, sustain, and close relationships based on learning competencies and goals. Collaboration tools, support materials, and additional utilities help keep relationships engaged and on track. With Open Mentoring®, CCASTD is able to offer ways for members to engage in social learning relationships that will spread knowledge and connect colleagues throughout the the Chicagoland area.

This easy-to-use, web-based mentoring process guides the mentee through assessing his/her development needs, finding a suitable mentor from a dynamic database, and creating a mentoring agreement. It also supports the participants through utilities such as messaging and calendar functions, allowing for collaborative discussions and easy planning and scheduling.

The CCASTD Mentoring Program needs YOU!

Especially during these tumultuous times, there are many workplace learning and performance professionals who are seeking the wisdom and experience that you have. We are actively seeking mentors to help shape the knowledge and development of our fellow CCASTD members, and your expertise is needed to help make our mentoring program successful!

If you have five or more years of experience in the learning and performance field and are looking for a new way to expand your network, sharpen your skills and differentiate yourself from others in the industry, then we invite YOU to participate in this exciting program!

A few facts to remember about mentoring:

  • Mentoring is a good use of time. In this program, you will be able to define your level of commitment, agreeing to relationships that match the time and energy that you are willing and able to provide. It is possible to participate by offering as little as 1 hour per month.
  • Mentoring relationships are focused. Mentoring relationships are based on the mentee's learning needs and only last as long as it takes to accomplish that need. Most mentoring relationships last between 6 and 12 months.
  • Mentoring is driven by the mentee. Mentees will find you based on the biographical profile that you fill out and will come to you with an adequate understanding of their development needs. Your time is focused on sharing expertise, not managing the relationship.

There are also many benefits for you as a mentor.

  • You have the opportunity to further enhance your knowledge by applying it to the learning needs and situations of your mentee.
  • Share your expertise with another in the profession.
  • Expand your personal network.
  • Invest in others and the future of CCASTD as a whole.
  • Prove yourself as a valuable leader.
  • Enhance experience in your areas of expertise.
  • Obtain a fresh perspective.
  • Extend your role as a subject matter expert.

Participation is easy and rewarding! Sign up today to be a mentor – either email Kim Pollard or use our online form (CCASTD members only).
